Wiggles

If you watched the NFL draft this weekend, you may remember an elderly man – Jim Job, 50 years as a season ticket holder for the Chiefs – calling the Kansas City Chief’s 4th round pick, Devon Wylie from Fresno State. This kid has had his share of adversity, but he is a fighter and proved this year, despite being on a 4-9 team, that he is an excellent athlete and football player. He is my brother and I am very proud of him.

I put together a slideshow of my recent work. It encompasses many hours of swimming, planning, stressing, and immersing myself in the pursuit of waves…it also has music from one of my new favorite soundtracks – Tron – by Daft Punk.

The World of a Surf Photographer

So I have been getting ready to post up my shots from this last amazing swell, thinking that I have some really nice shots, proud of the work I have put together. Then I find this and just am absolutely floored by the quality of story telling and magnificence of imagery. Can’t say enough how much this video both struck a chord with me and humbled me. Enjoy. Oh, and the shots will be up soon.

Idiosyncasies Premiere

This Wednesday, July 14 is the Santa Cruz premiere of Patrick Trefz’s “Idiosyncracies” a the Rio Theatre. The film investigates the lives and surfing of some extravagant characters including Richard Kenvin, Andrew Kidman, Lance Ebert, Christian Beamish, Tom, Leeann, Frank and Pat Curren, Bill and Josh Mulcoy. I was able to see a “pre-screening” of Richard’s segment and his alaia work on a mysterious wave in Baja is inspiring beyond belief.
